Ares hails NASA’s return to the big time
I love space and all that comes with it. When I say space I’m not talking about room to move about and express myself, I’m talking about the big, wide open cold black stuff that is above us; the stuff that contains so much mystery. The final frontier.
The very interesting news that has come into my information gathering radar recently is that NASA has completed the preliminary design review of its Ares I rocket. I’ve been following the Constellation program – of which Ares I is an integral part – for some time. The announcement about Ares is the biggest that I heard regarding this project, and in fact is the biggest even for NASA for some 35 years. In some ways Ares hails NASA’s return to the big time.
Unfortunately I also read some news that dampened my enjoyment of this moment: the whole project has slipped back two years to the painfully distant year of 2015 (when, if you read some other news, we’ll all be flying around on hover boards). We’ll have to wait at least seven years before we see the Ares rocket propel the Orbit shuttle into the atmosphere. What a wait but hey, what a treat when it finally happens.
